We separate physical mineral data from historical or contemporary symbolism and identify the type of evidence behind each statement.

Identification method

Our visual tools compare color, transparency, luster, pattern, habit, and visible inclusions. We avoid recommending destructive scratch tests on unknown or valuable stones. Visual identification cannot reliably determine treatment, synthetic origin, or exact species in every case.

Care method

Care guidance considers hardness, cleavage, fracture risk, water sensitivity, heat, light, common treatments, and jewelry setting. When references disagree, we use the more cautious recommendation.

Folklore labeling

Symbolic meanings are described as historical tradition, folklore, or personal practice. They are not presented as medical, psychological, or financial outcomes.
